I. Is concealment required on all stages?
Answer: Yes. The use of concealment defines IDPA. Why would you not use it? We like concealment so much we even require it on the standards stage.
II. Why are stage 3 and stage 4 so close in layout?
Answer: The stages are designed this way for indoor ranges. You set up stage 2 and install a second set of target stands 1’ in front of the array. Mark off a second start position 3’ in front of the base line, and mark an “X”, 13’ in front of the base line. Have the array for stage 3 stapled up firmly. When you want to change from stage 3 to stage 4, pull that array up and put two separate targets into the forward stands and stage 4 is ready to go.

III.What is stacking shots?
Answer: For the purposes of the standards, the shooter MUST shoot the course of fire as written. An example of stacking would be shooting Stage 3, String 1 by firing 2 shots on T1 and T2, and after performing the reload firing 2 shots each on T3 and T4.
IIIa. How wide are the barricades in stage 2
Answer: 3 feet
IV. How do you make the hardcover targets?
Answer: I like to use duct tape, preferably black. You get a straight edge and the tape is wide enough to help you paint without using a piece of cardboard as a guide.
Stage 1: T1 & T2:
Tape across shoulder of target: (download .pdf for full pictures)
Paint lower half of target:

For Hardcover Target Stage 4 T2 & T3:
Tape a straight line down to the left and right of the -0. The tape should be 8” apart top and bottom. To simplify this, you can use a straight edge and pencil two lines as a guide for taping. Here is a close up of the tape along the left of the -0.

Answer: Please note the brown marker is there for purposes of illustration. You do not need to repeat this part. The bottom edge of the target is lined up with the scoring border between the -1 and down three.

VI. How do you set up Stage 1 T4& T5 with the Non threat:
Answer: The left edge of NT is even with the right of the -0 on T4 The right edge of NT is even with the left side of the -0 on T5.
